EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEWS
ALTERNATIVE BEN BRIDWELL (BAND OF HORSES)
BEN BRIDWELL, founding member and lead singer of Band of Horses had never envisioned himself, back in his teens, as being involved in music, in any way other than a fan. That, as we all know, changed after he moved to Seattle, where, with time, he started Brown Records, which released the first two Carissa's Wierd albums.
BAND OF HORSES - No One's Gonna Love You
After the split-up of Carissa's Wierd, Matt Brooke, one of its former members and longtime friend of Bridwell, helped him to play guitar. This also encouraged Bridwell to write his own material and thus the world gained a phenomenal artist.
From Band of Horses' first album, 'Everything All the Time' (2006), which includes widespread hits such as The Funeral, through to their third, 'Infinite Arms' (2010), comes 2011 like a cavalry, carrying a Grammy nomination for Best Alternative Album for a flying pennant. Like wild horses, they'll hopefully win the prize, just in time before they keep on galloping free and untamed.
REGGAE/ LOVERS ROCK COURTNEYJOHN
COURTNEY JOHN was born in a family of artists such as Beres and Winston Hammond. As he was growing up, giving himself early clear signs of his musical talent, 'Yogie' (his nickname) also became aware of the need to develop some 'industry awareness', in order to stand out in the Kingdom of Reggae and avoid drowning in a Caribbean sea of Marley-wannabes.
COURTNEY JOHN - Lucky Man
He headed to Toronto, to complete his education with a Business Marketing Diploma, and back in Jamaica he co-founded FiWi, so he could dedicate to his greatest love, MUSIC, and not starve in the intent.
He not only didn't starve but created a label that released other great reggae artists' albums as well as his own and which has also allowed him to produce and remix for worldwide known stars such as Nelly Furtado, Missy Elliot, Beres Hammond, Marcia Griffiths, Beenie Man, Jarvis Church...
It's been a great pleasure to interview the new prince of lovers rock just for you.
ELECTRONICA/
DANCE/HOUSE
